Hey y’all my name is Freya, I am 17 years old and I live in the Tri-state area. I was assigned female at birth and was raised accordingly, but growing up I felt like I wasn’t completely female. I knew I liked feminine things, but I also leaned towards masculine behaviors and activities. As a brown immigrant in a predominantly white area, life has been difficult. Even before coming out as trans, many of the other kids mistreated me for my appearance.
When Trump became elected, life became more violent as I heard disgusting and ignorant remarks on immigrant and queer rights. People threatened me to leave the country, even though I had just recently become a citizen like them.
However, I have allies and teachers who protect my identity and rights, making my life less difficult. I have been lucky to have these people as many others do not get the support that I have received.
